Winning Preparation Strategies for Speeches
As we work to improve our public speaking skills here at NYSL Promotions HQ, we’re learning that preparation is as important as what we do at the podium. Here are a few strategies we’re applying to set ourselves up for speaking success every time we take the stage.
We begin every big presentation by homing in on three key points, making them as clear and memorable as possible. As we rehearse our speeches with colleagues or trusted friends, we ask them to repeat our main points. If they can summarize the essential arguments we want to make, we know we’re on the right track.
It’s also essential to understand the audience as much as we can. When we’re preparing for NYSL Promotions speeches, we try to find out who will be in the room and what they’re most interested in learning. We want to be sure our presentations align with our listeners’ needs and concerns.
We’ve learned that making videos of our practice speeches is a great way to streamline our body language. Although it can be an odd experience, watching ourselves helps us refine our gestures and vocal inflections as well. We sometimes bring in a third party to offer real-time feedback so we can make further improvements.
These are just a few of the effective strategies we’ve discovered for improving our presentation abilities. Check out the NYSL Promotions Newswire to gain more valuable public speaking insights.
