NYSL Promotions Presents the Struggles and Satisfaction of Entrepreneurs Who Work from Home
Many of our friends and clients at NYSL Promotions not only own their own businesses, but work from home as well. Which sounds like a dream come true to many people. However, the people we know in this situation are quick to point out that there are as many challenges as rewards in working for yourself and working from home. We found their rationale for this mindset very intriguing, and share some of their common issues here.
First, they mentioned that it’s difficult for their friends and family to recognize that they have a real career. Everyone will assume that because you don’t spend all day in an office that you live a carefree, relaxed life. Worst of all, they might even think of you as less ambitious than most other professionals.
Also, the lack of a schedule set by someone other than yourself and your business’s needs means that you might end up working nights, weekends, holidays, and perhaps even a birthday or two. There are only 24 hours in a day, and sometimes time management means doing what needs to be done, not what you want to do.
On the other hand, they say the longer you work for yourself from home the less likely you’ll ever want to do anything else from anywhere else.So if self-employment while telecommuting is your goal, you should know that it will be full of challenges very few others will understand. On the other hand, if you can make it work you’ll probably never want to do anything else.
